After dropping several teasers and confirming the date for the release of SNSD's new song and video "Mr. Mr", SM have announced that the comeback could possibly be delayed up to three weeks due to "loss of data".
SM told Dispatch:
"We are currently discussing all the alternative possibilities related to Girls' Generation comeback. However, we are still in the middle of the discussion, we are planning to proceed the promotions for the comeback as scheduled" (this means, they will still have promotions AFTER the release of the music video, unlike what some people predict that they won't have any promotion week).
When Dispatch went on to further question SM, by suggesting that SNSD comes back before the release of their music video, SM went on to answer like this:
"We aren't thinking about the official comeback now. The most priority thing is the music video. Without any doubts, the music video is the start of Girls' Generation's promotions. The start of the comeback should be the music video. The quality is crucial more than any thing else. We really apologize to the fans who are anticipating in such a long time. Once things become settled, we will eventually reveal it. The lost data contained crucial scenes of the music video. The worst situation could happen, we have to re-shoot the video. We are currently exploring all the possible options in different perceptions. Please excuse us."
This is the same company that was able to keep SNSD's "Dancing Video" safely in tact for over four years, and now they have magically "lost" the most important parts of the "Mr. Mr" video. Call me a cynic, but I'm really not buying SM's bullshit excuse.
I firmly believe that SM is delaying SNSD's comeback because of YG's sudden announcement that 2NE1's second album would be released on the 24th of January - the same date as SNSD's EP. 2NE1 has a higher chance to sweep awards on music shows if they comeback a couple of days after SNSD, rather than on the same day.
SM probably smelled YG's shit plot for 2NE1's glory (because he still thinks that they are a top group lmao), and decided that they'd rather fight this war head-to-head.Any explanation has to how SM could lose such crucial footage would completely go over my head because they have never been this careless before, and it seems so stupid that no back-ups were made. Why would SM do something so careless that it means they'd have to spend additional money to re-film?
I refuse to believe in such a bullshit excuse.
