[MV Review] BESTie - Thank You Very Much

I've been listening to this song since it has come out, but I've been conflicted, as it took a while to decide how I truly feel about the song.

First, I called it when I said Dahye would look jjangbak as fuck in this music video...but that's like calling that Tony Romo will blow the game with an interception with two minutes to go in the game...so that's not something to really boast about.

Anyway, BESTie teamed up with Duble Sidekick for Thank You Very Much, and this may be one of the few times where I'll say that brave Brothers did a better job than Duble Sidekick. While I do enjoy Thank You Very Much, it doesn't hold up to Love Options. BESTie needed a really strong track to keep up the upward trend, and this track falters along the way.

This is one of those songs where I like as many things as I dislike. First, I like the lyrics, as they are a refreshing compared to the majority of idol songs, but then there's that embarrassing chorus to listen to. This song would be so much better without the repetitive "Thank You Very Much", and I believe that is what is holding this song back from being as good as it could be. Another plus is the lack of rapping in this song (I don't really consider Hyeyeon and Dahye's part at the beginning and Haeryung's part in the middle to be rapping), but rapping may have helped this song, as the bridge to this song is pretty weak. For everything the song does well, it does something equally as bad, but overall, I find the song to be fairly enjoyable. It may be unfair to compare it to Love Options, but I still listen to that song a lot, as it was one of my favorite songs from 2013.

Onto the music video, I really like it, starting off with the bright colors, as it fits well with the atmosphere of the song and the lyrics. Too many Kpop MVs use lighting and colors that are too dark to seem more moody, so seeing a bright MV comes off as a pleasant surprise. I like the message of the video, as the girls are enjoying themselves after a break up instead of being like the stereotypical crazy girl that is obsessed over a guy and continues to stalk him after the two have broken up.

The members look great in the music video, though Haeryung and Dahye still remain as my favorites.

In the end, BESTie's Thank You Very Much is a good song, but not strong enough considering that they had just released Love Options. They needed something as good or better to give them more public recognition, but for people who are fans already, this is an enjoyable song in its own right. If you don't worship Dahye yet, well, I just don't know what to say.
