After weeks of hyping up their comeback, "Cheer Up", or more commonly known as "Chwol Up", has been released.

Nayeon cements herself as the best Korean in the group with this comeback. I had to start this review with something positive.
"Cheer Up" could have been a very good song, or at the very least, a good song. There's a long of positive elements in this song, but each one is mirrored by something just as bad, or in some cases, even worse. I've listened to the song several times already and I still have no idea if I like the song or dislike it. It's not like SNSD's "I Got A Boy", but it's not anything great like BoA's "Lookbook".
One of the best part of the song is the chorus. It is fairly good, with an easy-going melody with a strong bass to back it up (without being overbearing). However, the chorus is ruined at the same time with horribly mispronouncing "Cheer Up" as "Chwol Up". I have no idea why they decided to pronounce it that way when a Korean would normally say it as "Chee-uh".
I do like a lot of the verses, but despite how nice they are, they do not mesh well with the chorus. Even Twice's "Like Ooh-Ahh" transitioned well from the chorus to the verses and vice-versa. "Cheer Up" is really a gigantic mish-mash of unrelated pieces of music mashed together. I thought after f(x) had perfected the mash-up with "Red Light" that we wouldn't be reliving 2013's shit of having mix-and-match random songs together.
Ultimately, what saves the song from being utter shit is that the individual parts are good enough to listen to, but as a whole, this song is unremarkable. It's listenable, and definitely watchable since Twice is the most attractive girl group at the moment, but I don't see this being heavily rotated in anyone's MP3 player except for the most die-hard Onces.
